Tulle Tea Party Tea Bags

We’re getting ready for Pearl’s Alice in Wonderland Mad Tea Party Un-Birthday. I made some pretty linens but when I placed an empty tea cup on the table– something was missing. I went through my scrap drawer and found some ratty tulle and random pieces of felt.Tea Bags_1

A snip here, a stitch there and these sweet tulle tea bags became the perfect finishing touch.

  • Tulle
  • Sewing machine
  • Pinking shearsTea Bags_2

What to do:

Wrap the end of the embroidery thread with a small piece of felt and sew. Cut the end of the felt with pinking shears.

Cut out red felt hearts (or any shape you like.)

Double up a rectangle of tulle and fold your shape inside. Sew, enclosing your shape in a square. Use pinking shears to get your “bag” just the right size.  Careful not to cut the embroidery thread.

I knew there was a reason for keeping those scraps. With two little girls in the house we will be having many tea parties for birthdays, Valentine’s Days, rainy days…Tea Bags_4

We might run out of chamomile but Tulle Tea is forever.
