The Arrangement on E!

Years ago, I was a bartender at this hotel. Jonathan Abrahams would pick me up in his beat up Jetta at 2am and I’d put my feet on the dash and count my dollar bills. That Jetta had permanent moisture in the windshield. Even when it was dry outside. It made no sense. How did it get there? How could he even drive that thing- you couldn’t see out the damn windshield! Anyway…

He doesn’t have the Jetta anymore, but twelve years later he does have a giant mural for his TV show on the side of the building.   Continue Reading…

This Christmas Give to Heifer

The Heifer catalogue is here! You know the one- “The Most Important Gift Catalog in the World”!

heifer international, giving, charityI’d received these catalogues for years, but this was the first year I talked to my kids about what this organization actually does. In short- Heifer provides the tools necessary to help families be self-sustaining. One of the biggest ways they do this is through their animal program. Yes, animals are tools! Purchasing an animal through the Heifer program can empower a family by providing them with products that can be sold such as milk, eggs and honey.  Continue Reading…

The Goldbergs and Dr. Ken!

A set tour of The Goldbergs and Dr. Ken! Eeeeeeee!!! Giant backdrops, stairs that lead nowhere, walls on wheels- I never tire of going behind-the-scenes and seeing how TV magic is made.

dr ken, television, hollywood, abc, asian-americanIt’s fun to visit our favorite characters’ homes— sift through their closets, see what’s in their fridge… and looking at all the studio equipment reminds us of the sweat and tears that go into creating something just to make us laugh for 30 minutes a week.  Continue Reading…

Inside Out Family Costumes

Who loves Sadness? Me!

We really didn’t have to think too hard over who was our favorite Inside Out character… Smalls is disgusted by most greens, Bigs is a smart girl who loves Joy, I’m obsessed with turtlenecks and often dwell in the sadness of my youth… and although Jonathan isn’t the embodiment of Anger at all, it was funny for us to see him red-faced and spiky-haired.inside out, family costume, hollowed Our plan was to turn this into a holiday card that read, “No Fear in 2016. The card never happened but the ‘no fear’ part did, so I guess that’s all that matters.   Continue Reading…

Three Little Pigs Family Costume

Every year I go on the hunt for the easiest family costume in the history of Halloween. The year of The Three Little Pigs family costume I might’ve found it. I know many of you don’t have the time and energy to think about this stuff- so I thought I’d share. Maybe this one works for you guys: Pink hoodies. Jeans. Crocheted pig and wolf snouts and tails. We were warm, we were bonded by theme and we huffed and we puffed all around town in comfort and style.

The Pie Life… and How I Found Balance

I loved being a stay-at-home mom. For years. The nursing, the middle-of-the-day cuddles, how the smallest activities turned into big, big adventures. And then one day I didn’t love it so much anymore. In fact, I found myself very depressed. My life was completely out of whack.  Continue Reading…

Happy Friday everyone!

Perhaps some of YOU have won Emmys too, maybe even last Sunday- congratulations!! How BADASS is that?!! Please show this video to your spouse/partner/cleaning lady/brother who always lived in your shadow so that they will know how to properly take care of that beautiful prize- while you’re off at work being awesome. Cheers!

*warning strong satirical content.

Special thanks to Ryan E. Hamilton for his amazing voiceover work. Check him out at www.LifeofDad.com

And of course, to my husband for his tireless support and unconditional love. I’ll get that thing back, I promise.

Kid Crafts: How to Make Snow Globes

Hey Everyone! Pearl and I show you how to make snow globes today on Kid Crafts. Now, I know a lot of you claim to not be crafty. I hear it all the time. “I’m sooo not crafty.” “I do not have one crafty bone in my body…” etc. etc. You are my favorite kind of people.  Because you are so easy to prove wrong! Stop judging yourself, watch this video, grab a thing, and glue it to the inside of a mason jar. Don’t overthink it. The glitter stays in the jar of course, so there’s no mess. And the glitter storm- the glitter storm is the magical moment that you deserve. xo
