Now might be a good time to let you in on a secret: we’re remodeling! Yup. We’re in the early stages- measuring, sketches, permits… but come November we’ll have to get into temporary housing because mama’s finally getting her upstairs master suite. Aw. yeah. We’re also pimping out everything else in the house- kitchen, bathrooms, windows and floors….
At least that’s the plan. I tend to get a little lost in the numbers. Let’s see how far we get with our budget. And then, you know me– I’ll DIY the rest.

OK you guys. This might be my favorite DIY project ever. It’s personal. And it’s weird. And I’m a little giddy about it. Excuse me while I go giggle behind my delicate Asian hand. 😉 It’s called Correcting Yellowface.
A few weeks ago, in a fit of frustration over the history of Hollywood whitewashing, I felt an urge to do something. I started taking pictures of myself. Not just random pictures. I took pictures of myself as Asian characters who were played by white women in film. And it felt sooooo good.
A couple years ago my husband and I were on a DIY show on the FYI network called House vs. House. We were one of two couples who were given $7000 to transform 2 rooms of their homes. After a grueling 3-day-process with no outside help, two judges would decide which couple deserved to take home an additional $10,000.

It’s a yarn bomb. In honor of National Women’s History Month. After about two weeks, the pieces will be taken down and transformed into blankets for women transitioning out of homelessness. Last year I yarn bombed the Village Green as a way to bring joy to the community while giving back at the same time. It was so well received I decided to do it again. I’m a sucker for a few smiles.
