Crayon Collection Office Makeover

I’m so excited to share my latest project with you- the Crayon Collection office makeover! This tiny, windowless, 11 X 7 foot room was an empty canvas in the supercool BizHaus co-working space in Los Angeles. It needed to accommodate three desks and storage, and also be an inspiring and creative environment to work in every day. Eeeeeek!

Hard to believe but… mission accomplished! Watch the video and let me know what you think. 😉

DIY Fall Gourds

Oh my GOURD! I got to reconnect with my favorite people at Home & Family to talk FALL today! Like, how over summer I am, and how ready for cozy sweaters and football games I am. And also, decorating for fall. I’m so ready for that too. Specifically, with gourds. Yes, GOURDS!

Inside Out Family Costumes

Who loves Sadness? Me!

We really didn’t have to think too hard over who was our favorite Inside Out character… Smalls is disgusted by most greens, Bigs is a smart girl who loves Joy, I’m obsessed with turtlenecks and often dwell in the sadness of my youth… and although Jonathan isn’t the embodiment of Anger at all, it was funny for us to see him red-faced and spiky-haired.inside out, family costume, hollowed Our plan was to turn this into a holiday card that read, “No Fear in 2016. The card never happened but the ‘no fear’ part did, so I guess that’s all that matters.   Continue Reading…

Three Little Pigs Family Costume

Every year I go on the hunt for the easiest family costume in the history of Halloween. The year of The Three Little Pigs family costume I might’ve found it. I know many of you don’t have the time and energy to think about this stuff- so I thought I’d share. Maybe this one works for you guys: Pink hoodies. Jeans. Crocheted pig and wolf snouts and tails. We were warm, we were bonded by theme and we huffed and we puffed all around town in comfort and style.

Kid Crafts: How to Make Snow Globes

Hey Everyone! Pearl and I show you how to make snow globes today on Kid Crafts. Now, I know a lot of you claim to not be crafty. I hear it all the time. “I’m sooo not crafty.” “I do not have one crafty bone in my body…” etc. etc. You are my favorite kind of people.  Because you are so easy to prove wrong! Stop judging yourself, watch this video, grab a thing, and glue it to the inside of a mason jar. Don’t overthink it. The glitter stays in the jar of course, so there’s no mess. And the glitter storm- the glitter storm is the magical moment that you deserve. xo

Correcting Yellowface Interview on CCTV

I’m going to be honest. I’ve never been more nervous in my life than I was on the set of CCTV America talking about my project Correcting Yellowface. OK, doing the Today show was pretty nerve-wracking, but at least I had a gazillion things to demonstrate and it was only 4 minutes. This was a sit down interview. In a high-tech studio. With a women I’d never met. Talking about a heavy subject. FOR FIFTEEN MINUTES. May Lee introduced herself to me beforehand and even though she was super cool and personable- someone I’d want to hang with outside of work- meeting her didn’t take away the anxiety I had about speaking publicly about my project. CCTV is broadcast all over the world, in millions of households, and it’s super-broadcasted (that means I don’t remember the numbers but it’s ridiculously high) all over China.

However painful, this I learned: I did not die. Yet again, I put myself out there and I. did. not. perish.

If I can do it, you can too. Put yourself out there today. Do the scariest thing you can imagine. ‘Till your pits sweat and you sincerely think you might pass out.

Tell me about it after. You’ll be able to. Because you won’t be dead. xox
